About Restored Sword

Into the Scriptures Ministry

Why This Exists

Restored Sword was born out of a simple conviction: the names in Scripture matter. When we read “the LORD” in our English Bibles, we’re reading a substitution. The original Hebrew text says YHWH (יהוה) — the Father’s personal, covenant name — and it appears over 6,800 times.

When we read “Jesus,” we’re reading a name that passed through Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English. The Messiah’s actual name is Yahushua (יהושע) — which means “YHWH is salvation.” The name itself carries the Father’s name and the mission of the Son.

“I am YHWH: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another.” — Isaiah 42:8

What We Changed

Restored Sword is the complete King James Bible with the sacred names restored to every verse where they appear in the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts:

YHWH — restored from “the LORD” and “GOD” throughout the Old Testament (6,828 instances)
Elohim — restored from “God” in both testaments
Yahushua — restored from “Jesus”
Mashiach — restored from “Christ”
Set-Apart Spirit — restored from “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit”
the Master — used in the New Testament where “Lord” refers to Yahushua (except in direct Old Testament quotations, where YHWH is preserved)

What We Didn’t Change

Everything else. The KJV text is preserved exactly as published. We didn’t modernize the English, alter the theology, or add interpretation. If the King James translators wrote “shall” and “thee” and “begat,” it stays. Only the names and titles have been restored to their original forms.

Where manuscript evidence raises legitimate questions — like the longer ending of Mark, the Comma Johanneum in 1 John 5:7, or the Pericope Adulterae in John 7:53–8:11 — we added study notes explaining the textual history so you can examine the evidence yourself.

How It Was Built

Every restoration was done by hand against the Hebrew Masoretic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus. The Strong’s Concordance integration includes all 8,674 Hebrew entries and 5,523 Greek entries, with transliterations, definitions, and usage data. The 67,000+ cross-references were compiled from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.

Restored Sword is a Progressive Web App — it runs entirely in your browser and works fully offline after your first visit. No app store, no account, no data collection, no ads. Just Scripture.

“Thy way, O Elohim, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a Elohim as our Elohim?” — Psalms 77:13

Into the Scriptures

Restored Sword is a project of Into the Scriptures — a ministry dedicated to helping people engage with the Word in its original context. Our studies include The Sanctuary: Figures of the True (a 14-lesson walk through the Tabernacle) and The Coming of the Messiah Blueprint (a 30-day prophecy/fulfillment study), both available as reading plans inside the app.

This tool is and always will be free. If it blesses your study, share it with someone who would benefit.

“Freely ye have received, freely give.” — Matthew 10:8
